City of Downey Wins APWA Award - B.E.S.T Project of the Year for Implementation of Solar Energy

Downey, CA - December 30, 2022

The City of Downey has been recognized with the APWA B.E.S.T Project of the Year award for their successful implementation of solar energy throughout the municipality. This award was given by the American Public Works Association (APWA), an organization dedicated to the advancement of public works throughout the United States.

The solar energy project was developed and installed by Onyx Renewable Partners, a leading national renewable and clean energy solutions company headquartered in NYC. The project involved the installation of solar PV and battery storage systems on various municipal buildings and facilities, such as City Hall, the library, and the police station. The solar panels generate clean energy and help reduce the city's carbon footprint.

The APWA B.E.S.T (Building Excellence in Safety, Transportation, and Infrastructure) award recognizes exceptional projects that demonstrate excellence in construction, management, and administration. The City of Downey's solar energy project was selected for its innovative approach to promoting sustainability, as well as its positive impact on the community.
